I am very new to the cnc world and want to build a smaller machine to cut acrylic parts for aquariums. I normally do all my cutting with a regular router. Does anyone have any suggestions on what size motors I should use. Also, will a trim router be enough or should I go with a regular router? Most of the material I use is .25-.50 material. Thanks in advance. |

| I'd go with a variable speed 2HP router. As for how big of steppers, it depends on a lot of things. How big is the machine, how fast do you want to cut, how heavy will it be, what type of linear bearings, what type of screws.....

| Start reading through the project logs here to get an idea of what people are using on similar size machines.
