If you want to machine the case acetal (Delrin) cuts nice and is pretty stable. Polycarbonate would make a nice tough case as well.
I want to create my own laptop, and I am wondering what would be a good plastics for a laptop case.
I would like it to be dark in color, (black if possible), strong, light and cnc machine friendly... does not scratch to easy...
Would love some suggestions...
Thank you for your time, and I will continue my search, cant seem to find what I want...

Will love to see your project--take pictures!
Somehow I would think it will be hard to find one that doesn't scratch easily. Maybe consider a color that won't show the scratches. I like poly like you find in cutting boards (always buy cheap cutting boards on sale at places like Target!). It's white, machines nicely, and doesn't show the scratches much.
I'd love to know what plastics Apple uses for their cases. Clearly they'd know a thing or two about what to use!
Cheers,

One of the most annoying things is the battery life of notebook. Some of the model will claim to have up to 5 hours of battery life. However, they do not tell you this life only happened in the condition when your laptop open but not work at all, just as if you leave its at screen saver.
