When I make a program for a full contour around a piece, and check the box for CRC/Cutter Radius Comp, I get a G41/42 and D in the program. However, when it is just a single line instead of a closed shape, the G and D codes are not included. How can I make it so they do appear, like when I want to cut a single edge off of a piece? Thanks in advance. |

Everything is the same as I do it any other way, but when its just a single feature cut, G41 or G42 and D are not included. If I use even that same line but include it in a whole shape, like cutting around a square, it will include those codes. But when it is just a single line, theres nothing.

Finally I figured it out... I didnt have a number in the lead in/out box. Instead of putting any numbers for line/90* radius, i just put 0. Well, this time i tried to put in .1 and it added the D and G41/G42. Haha, Ive been trying to figure this out for so long and it was something so simple. Thanks for the help.

I was going to ask if you had any lead on/off. Glad you found the problem. Curiously, if I enable cutter comp without any lead moves I still get G41, G40 and D in my posted code. Obviously the machines will just error when they read the line. Depending what version of Gibbs you have, in your machining preferences there an option to check for CRC Entry Line Validation. Check it and Gibbs will warn you if you don't have a lead on/off line.

Be aware that cutter comp can only be a maximum of what your lead is. If you come in at .05, than that is the most cutter comp you can use in most machines. If you are working on something that may require alot of cutter comp, then make your lead bigger. --Life, Liberty, and the pursuit of those that threaten it...
