Those wood models are carved on at least a router with at least 4 axis. You can do it on a 3 axis router if you have a good fixture setup and rotate/re-mount the model for each face. That may be how these were made considering the price they are asking. Using a 3d printer would be fairly simple if you wanted it out of plastic, but I thought the pinewood derby cars were supposed to be wood? They do make wood based PLA for 3d printers! So much for the kids building it and carving the car themselves using creativity...
I downloaded free cad try the .stl export to .iges, the .stl file loaded up right in free cad when I exported to iges file then opened in Gibbs I get a blank screen any idea?
I think I’m real close on getting this to work, first of all I want to thanks you Louis for helping me so far, I don't know free cad that well when you say: mesh to a part from memory start to complete then Part: create part from mesh before exporting. I don't understand how or what to do on this freecad to can you go step with me on this?
