| Move Part answer There are two ways that you can do this. You can move the part or move the Origin. First way (which there are many options) is to place a point at the corner (use edge geometry extraction, in the SS book) that you want to move the origin to. Then open the Translate dialog int he modify menu. (make sure your cursur is active in the dialog) Hold Alt + shift and click the point (the cursur should be a box at this time). The XY and Z information should fill in the dialog. Since you are moving the part to the origin, you need to change all + numbers to - ones and vice versa. Then select the part and DO IT. The second way is to move the origin to the location. Use the same steps for getting the corner point. Use the "move part origin" option in the modify menu. There are about 4 other ways (that I can think of right now) to do this, but these will be the most common ways. In version 2004 (coming soon), there is an absolute translate option. (move from here to here) that will make this even better. Good luck GG |
