    Help with simple roughing operation

Hi, I am a GibbsCAM newbie and am having trouble getting this simple roughing operation to work.

The picture shows the two parts I want to make which are secured via screws to the larger rectangular fixture from the bottom. I'd like to program machining of the two highlighted surfaces as well as the outline of the part.

Its basically a facing operation on a section of each part.

I've already programmed the contouring operation to produce the part outline. The toolpaths for this is shown in red below.

If you really want just the highlighted surfaces, you might use the solution I worked out here:

You can download the solution I went with from the final post.

Its a face milling operation, I just offset some geometry from the backwall so the face milling wouldn't overlap the back wall.

Maybe I am not seeing what you are seeing. Care to upload your model? What I am seeing is not a facing operation. What I am seeing is step over passes to a line.

There may be a way to do it with solids however i dont know it.

To do it with wireframe, extract the edges of the face you want to face, program a roughing routine using facemill, and for stock selection, use 'part' instead of 'stock' and select the chain that is the shape of your part.

Im willing to bet you will have to do each individually, not that its any extra work imho
