The tail stock on a CNC lathe is used for a live center, not for drilling like on a manual lathe. Put your drills on the carriage.
In Gibbscam how do you select which part of the machine does the center drilling operation? I feel like this should be obvious but I'm missing something
Just for background
My school just bought a TL-1 lathe. I have no experience CNC machining on a lathe so I want to ask before I mess something up.
Thanks in advance.

Thank you for the answer. Out of curiosity why is this? Are there any other uses for the tailstock?
I apologize for the basic questions I'm new to machining and it's hard to get answers for specific questions sometimes.

The tail stocks on CNC lathes are not servo driven but powered via hydraulics so they can't move with a feed rate.
