Hello, I've been at GibbsCAM for all of a week now. I'm looking at the Adv3D#1 Mold Cavity Example which contains a Workgroup that contains only the XZ geometry of the solid. (C:\Program Files\Gibbs\GibbsCAM\Part Files\Advanced 3D\Tutorial Files - Completed\Adv3D#1 Mold Cavity.vnc ) How would I extract just that XZ geometry? Do I have to manually select a bunch of individual faces and DoIt? Or is ther a better way? Thanks |

| Also, looking at the "extracted geometry" in the Workgroup, the lines a purple dimension lines instead of blue connected geomtery lines. How'd they do that?? C:\Program Files\Gibbs\GibbsCAM\Part Files\Advanced 3D\Tutorial Files - Completed\Adv3D#1 Mold Cavity.vnc |

| What you would need to do is creat a new "CS system" to get the geo. from a different plane. It would proably be helpful if you create a new "Workgroup" for the Geomerty. When the Geo. is purple, It means it was created using a differnernt "CS system" than the one curently selected. White Geo. means it's on a different "Work Group" "Work Group" is simlair to "Layers" as you may see in a differnt CAD/CAM systems. Geo. is save in the "Work Group". Soilds on the other hand are stored in the "Body Bag" when not in use and not assotated with "Work Groups" except for the Geo. that was used to make them. One more tip is you can use "Force depth" under the modify menue if you want to the geo. to be on the same "Z" depth. You may want to thumb thorugh the "CS Book" and the "Soilds Book". | Not getting to far with this. I created a XZ coordinate system. But when I select a couple of faces or edges and do extract geometry, the extracted geometry seems to be still on the XY plane. It isn't running along the Z surfaces like in the sample file. Any chance you could hit me with a little walk-through? |

| Upload a file for us to look at. When you extract edges in an active CS, the planar geometry will be on that CS. If you extract geomerty from a 3D edge, the geometry may or may not belong to the active CS, largely depending on how the feature was created. Gibbs will create a CS for the geometry if one doesn't exist. |

| This part is the Adv3D#1 Mold Cavity that installs with the Part Files that com with GibbsCam. (C:\Program Files\Gibbs\GibbsCAM\Part Files\Advanced 3D\Tutorial Files - Completed\Adv3D#1 Mold Cavity.vnc ) ![]() and ![]() I'd like to be able to extract the geometry for the mold cavity and dimension it just like that..... Thanks |
