    Confusion about "Posts"

I've been reading some of the recent threads requesting "Posts" for the GibbsCam software.

I'm having trouble figuring them out.

I was under the impression that "Posts" were the G-Code generated for a specific part. Since I haven't had any actual hands-on training with this software yet, I'm wondering how "Posts" for an individual part can be used by another user on a completely different part.

I've read some threads looking for "Posts" for Mac computers and another stating that they have about 2000 "Posts" that they're willing to share.

Can someone give me a short definition of the word "Post" as it applies to GibbsCam?

    Thanks.

    MetalShavings.

You are confusing "Post Processor" or "Posts" for short, with a g-code file (posted file, or default NCF file in GibbsCAM).

Nearly everyone calls Post Processors "Posts" for short, and depending on the cam system they are basically templates used by the systems processing engine/software to generate and format the CL file into g-code for a specific machine.
