Hi Folks, I have been programming VMC,s for a while but never for a Horizontal. Any tips? It,s a 1992 Matsura, not sure of the model number yet, but has a 6M controller. I have several 6M posts but not sure which is the best fit. Any feedback would sure be a help. Not sure if any post below is for horizontal. | Welcome to the GibbsCAM Support Center You have standard 3-axis, 3 axis long hand, Advance Mill, and A-axis rotary mill posts in that list. If you have the Advance Mill option you can program 3, 4, or 5 axis machines with Advance Mill posts. Did any of these posts come with your seat of GibbsCAM? If so, I would just create a short sample program and start posting. Examine the code and see if you want/need anything modified by the post dept. at GibbsCAM. When I e-mail them a post modification request, I always get a phone call to verify exactly what I want and any possible issues. Post gets e-mailed by the next day, sometimes the same day. If you downloaded any of those posts online, check them out very, very carefully. They also need the text file to be modified. As far as programming a 3 or 4 axis horizontal goes, they are no different than a 3 or 4 axis vertical. Think of them as a vertical that is sitting on it's side. Considerations will be tooling and fixturing. Chip evacuation is better (pockets/cavity/holes). Spindle construction tends to be more rigid than than that on a vertical. |
