Hello i am trying to burn out metal with our new cnc plasma table. I have converted a raster stencil like image to a vector using inkscape. i then try to open the .dxf in nesting software. computer says cannot read splines. i am familiar with what splines are, how do i get my cnc to do what i want it to do? thanks much appreciated.
cam program is promotion, i think oem is robotronics.
Welcome to the primitive world of CAM Software!
Lots of packages will not read splines, and in the past I have had to manually convert these to Arcs etc in a CAD Package
It can take literally hours to do.
There are some CAM Packages available now that will cut splines, and there are also software packages available that will automatically convert the drawing to usable arcs and lines etc
One of these is Vcarve Pro 5, this is a wood routing package but it has that feature built in.
Not cheap, but my CNC Plasma used to be a Routing machine and I already had the software available
