    hello all

    Hello,

    My name is Bill.

I am looking for others who are doing work in the Kansas City area. I currently own a cnc plasma table I need to try and get set up. I am not really a machinist or cnc operator, but would like to learn. I have a 10x10 Aronson table that is a gantry setup with posts. It has a Creonics controller, and hyperther 1000. I have had it for two years, and am looking to start setting it up in the spring of 09. The software and computer are pretty old,and will want to upgrade it. Looking for advice, and others whom might enjoy working with a guy like me on this.

I have a small art fab shop, and am a bit afraid of the learning curve. I do not mean to thrash this thread, just trying to learn to navigate the site.

In trade for valid advice, I would be more than happy to cut parts for whom ever would be able to help me with the task for free (your material) for some time if it works out. I want to use the machine for prototype work for some of my furniture designs, and was the original intent for the machine.

    Thanks,

    Bill

Well, I'm not in KC but in Poplar Bluff, MO. I built a plasma cutter and used EMC2 for the controls. The EMC folks are real helpful when it comes to getting set up. EMC2 and Plasmacam work well for plasma cutters.

So my first question is your machine steppers or servos?

    EMC2's web site is

    http://www.linuxcnc.org/

Take a look at the Getting Started Guide on the Documents page.

I have a Hypertherm 1250 on my table and cut up to 1/2".

    John
