    How high is your gantry??

Most of my table is complete and it is time to start the gantry now. How high is it from the slats on your table to the bottom of your gantry cross pieces?? I would sure appreciate some input here from folks w/ different tables. My table will be a 5x10.

    Hi ordinary Bill,
I built mine at about 200mm or 8 inches from the top of the slats and it gives me about 5 1/2 inches of cut depth allowing for the bottom rollers on the X axis. This makes for a relatively stable design without too much flex on the gantry. I'm using 4mm (3/16) thick 100mm (4") square section for the X axis. I wanted to make it higher just in case I had to cut out a part of a tank or box or something but then I realized that all you have to do is remove the slats and position whatever thick thing you have underneath and prop it up to the cutting height.
I am not completely useless.......I can always serve as a BAD example.

Mine is pretty close to the plate about 3" clearance or so... The sheet material goes between the aluminum and the steel frame. The whole upper part can be lifted off... and the sawhorses are gone now as it has proper legs

Thanks for the response guys. I started building the gantry today and it will be about 8" above the slats when done. I will get some pics of it and add them into my build log soon as I get a chance.
