Climb cutting is defined as cutting in the same direction as the tool rotation. In milling it produces smoother cuts but requires a rigid machine to do it. In plasma climb would only refer to the cut direction (probably counterclockwise). Depending on the thickness of the material and the plasma machine you can vary the side of the cut that has the flare based on the direction you are cutting.

    Hello,

Climb milling would be done going CW around a piece. The mill cutter turns CW as viewed from above, so the cutting tool tries to pull itself along the path.

Typically with conventional swirl plasma, you travel CW around the outside, CCW on the inside of a ring, for example. This gives the squarer cut on the workpiece.

    Jack C.

    Pure-Powder,

You need to cause the path to be CW on the outside, CCW on the inside. Whatever your CAD CAM system needs to accomplish this.
