Exclamation Linde CM-40 oxy-fuel shape cutter

I'm attempting to rebuild a Linde CM-40 oxy-fuel shape cutter. I need the manual for the Linatrol HL-90 tracing head, OR info on A REASONABLY PRICED CNC retrofit. If anyone can provide any help it would be greatly appreciated.

    Sir,

I used to be in the cutting machine business and Canadian Westinghouse was our competitor in the optical tracing area. Try to see if CW is still in business, or, try your local welding distributors. Some used to service these items. If you want to convert to CNC, there are several options. Would need to know what you want to do, plasma or oxyfuel or both. You could email me,

    Regards,
    Jack C.

Let me know what you need. I have worked on over 5000 HL90's, I like to think I know them. If you need info, instructions on how to add a CNC or just a manual let me know.

Did you ever have any luck finding repair parts for your Linde CM-40? We have one at the shop that I work at, and haven't a clue where to start looking if/when we are in need.

I have been there, done that, with a local shop. They wanted to keep the "eye" tracer and be able to run it with CNC as well. It was a MAJOR project because nothing on the table is made for speed (which plasma needs) and to interface to their analog servo controller was a nightmare. I had to replace the tiny motors and gearheads and fix the roller bearings and tracks to handle 100 IPM speeds. It was close to a fullengineering project and I tried to talk the customer into tossing the eye and manual drawing method but they were scared of computers. It cost them about $4,000 extra to be able to keep the eye tracer and after the computer was installed they have not to my knowledge used the tracer part again! It's just as easy to draw a part on the computer screen than it is to draw it in pen and paper and keep all the smudges off the master. It's fun watching the "eye" go all wookie when it sees a dirt spot and wander off into he weeds. Kinda costly when you are cutting 4" steel with oxy-fuel though.......

They had all of the manuals and schematics or I would never have even attempted the conversion. Even with the info I would never do it again!

Yes, of course. Our Capacitive height sensor is very sensitive an easy to use.
