    Retrofit

    I have a Linde CM-50 Shape Cutting Machine. It has the original tracing eye. I think it is about time to get into the 21 century. It is currently a cantilever, twin oxy-actetylene machine. I am think of making it a gantry machine and setting it up with cnc. My question is with everyone experience here. What automation do you think is the best. As far as software, contollers, motors and such. I might add I have a welding shop. So I guess it would be somewhat commercial use. Probably more than I think after it refitted.
    Thank You in advance.
    Bob

    Here is a CM-56 I did a few years back, I used the Acroloop card and the AcroCut software .

    If you find a card (ebay etc) I have the software.

    Sir,

    We used to use Burny (Cleveland Machine Control) for cutting machine retrofits. If you now have oxyfuel and want to do plasma, your current machine's speed may be a consideration; i e the drives may not go fast enough for plasma!

    I suppose any CAD DXF output would be OK; Sheetcam is said by many to be an excellent CAM software (around $150)

    Do you want to adapt some generalized machine control software such as Mach3 or Turbnocnc using a P C, or are you looking for something more commonly used in the plasma/oxy field? The Burny, for example, has ability to backup, do kerf compensation, and provide many plas/oxy specific operations. Perhaps the first question should be, "Is this to be a profit making machine, or is it more of a hobby at this time?"

    You can email me if you want;
