    Looking to build CNC Plasma

    hey everyone

    Great forum.

i am young and love to build my own equipment. i run a small business on the side building air suspension for trucks and cars and at the moment sub out all my brackets and parts to a local machine shop with a cnc plasma.

i have been looking into purchasing one but do have the funds to put out 10g for a simple table.

i ahve found some small tables for around 5g that need to be welded together.

but i got thinking they wouldnt be to hard to build one if i had the right help and i should be able to save some cash in the process.

i am looking to build a table around the 5' x 5' range and will be able to build the table no problem. im just a lil iffy about what i need in electrontics and rails.

i have been reading other post and will keep on researching more on this forum since im sure all the info i need is on here some where. but if some one wants to help me and guid me in the right directions i would be gratfull

    thanks
    Ash

For a Plug-n-go electronics solution WITH Digital Torch Height Control see our
http://www.candcnc.com/PlasmaPakPriceChart.htm It's everything you need between the PC and the mechanical part of the table. You can pick from stepper (suggested for tables of your size) or servo based systems.

You should be able to build a complete plasma table with full electronics including the DTHC for about 1/2 or less of a commercial rig.

my advice needs to be taken in the context that I have something to sell so just add it as part of your research. (:-)

Good source for linear bearings and shafts. This is what I used on my 4 x 4 foot table. I used the open blocks kit7270 and supported the 60 inch shaft in 4 places. Very robust feels like 0 slop. Still working well.

Get a hold of weldtutor, he has been using his chain drive machine for a year or so now and has done quite a bit of cutting.

Sure seems to do a great job
