I have never used HobbyCNC myself. In reading extensively on here for well over a year There are plenty of people who have with good success.
I would however Take a hard look at www.xylotex.com also. For apx 90.00 US more you get stronger motors. There are also many add on parts for Xylotex at: www.CandCNC.com.
I'm not trying to sway you one way or another. Please read many or all of the build logs for plasma machines. There is also lots of good build logs & discussion on the router table forum. Router tables are built about the same. Usually the gantry will be a more rigid design to help counteract the side loads a router generates.
You can start your build without having the electronics on hand. For your motor mounts etc. You can get a dimensioned chart on any of the motors commonly on the market. & build from that.
Trust me it takes several weeks even months to build a table. That is unless you have pretty much full time & help to dedicate to the project. In that time you'll have plenty of time do decide on your electronics kit.
Good Luck
Neil.
If it works.....Don't fix it!
