    Arrow New EDM plans

I have been looking at plans for two different styles of EDM's, plunge and wire. I want to know if anyone has made one and what was their experience?
What plans are best to use?

I made a plunging EDM, worked okay but was heavy on the electrodes and I used a peristaltic pump for the electrolyte. Couldn't believe that silicone tubing was allergic to paraffin/kerosene

My big mistake, I am told, was that I should have used a lower voltage for the power discharge with a low current/high voltage spike to initiate the spark.

I'm not convinced, but if I did it again I think I'd make it as a USB device and save myself heaps of knobs and switches

It's a Falkirk 6 pdr c1800, professionally spiked when it went on a tourist attraction schooner parked at Newquay around 1914. I got a pair with sea service carriages. I made the EDM to despike them.

Here's a real unexciting movie, my edm doing a dip

Thanks for the info. It has been very helpful. I really liked the pic and movie.
The visuals helped a lot also.
