Brother Wire Edm

What will happen if I try to power up wire EDM machine (Brother HS-3100) without connecting water tank to it ? I don't want to cut anything. Just want to see if I can move it in XY axes. Will machine let me do it, or there will be some kind of alarm blocking the whole machine ? Any precautions I should consider when starting this kind of machine for the first time ? I bought it used at auction so I don't know anything about it. The guy told me I should let technician take care of it. Is it necessary ?

dude, just hook up the flush cart, it only takes a few minutes....
but i think the brother needs a di bottle hooked to it also, or just put
bottled water in the system, to ensure it is clean(don't use tap water)

if you don't put water in the system, the brother may alarm...(not sure)

however the machine should boot to an input screen even without water,
then maybe you can jog.....

I've got a different brand, but you shouldn't be able to hurt anything by trying to move it. Mine will even let you try to burn, the wire just promptly breaks and then you get shut down for wire broken.
