    Need a THC now

    hello yall

im putting the finishing touches to my plasma table and its time to start looking for a THC. I have been looking at the THC300 sold by bob campbell and would like to have one, problem is i dont get any replys to my emails.

As time is short iw been looking in to some other dealers like the MP-1000 from candcnc and one sold by rutex(anyone tried it?).

Is there any other reseller of a THC that is worth checking? Im on a budget so <1000$ would be nice if possible.

If anyone has any info on how to get in touch with bob campbell that would be nice to.

Candcnc's owner might know how to get in touch with him. Wouldn't swear by it, but Candcnc does all the after sales support for the THC 300.

Sometimes Bob gets behind on answering e-mails. If you want technical answers and a feature review of either system (since both were based on my original THC design ), you can get them at my product support group:
CandCNCSupport yahoo group. You are welcome to join and ask questions. I usually stay up with my e-mail as well Tom(at)CandCNC.com.

We have a combo deal for the MP1000-THC Digital Torch Height Control with a license for MACH3 and the 2nd parallel port card you need for your control PC that fits well into your budget.

A lot will depend on how you are currently controlling the motors on your table and if it uses conventional motor drives. Both systems assume you have a full 3 axis (active Z axis with a motor and motor drive) and are running MACH on a PC using the parallel port.

There is a feature chart for plasma cutting in the website that might be a guide to help you in your decision process.

    Thanks for your replys

Guess im giving campbelldesigns a few more days altough i havent heard from them in 2weeks.

I have been looking at the Combo deal your talking about and it sounds interesting, however i could'nt make out if your THC only runs at ~120/60hz?
Or if it runs at european standard 230V/50hz?

Today im running my table with the mach3 demo xyz is powerd by stepper motors and step and dir drivers. One problem that comes up with candcnc's thc is that we only have 1parport and no slots to add another except via usb.

    Kkamel,

I have a Torchmate arc voltage height control that I would like to sell, (I've re-built my table and have a Dynatorch Height control now).

It worked real well for me, check out the Torchmate site for info.

If interested, PM me and we can talk price, answer questions etc....

We will provide a 230V 50HZ model for $15.00 more.

On the 2nd parallel port issue:

How you gonna run the THC300? It needs a second parallel port to run as well. You still need port one for all the motor stuff and Home switches.

If you only have one slot you can get a dual parallel port PCI card. USB will not work for any MACH interface

THC 300 does indeed have 3 inputs and one output.

It plugs into a DB25 parallel port. It takes the whole plug. There are no pins left over for all of the other signals. It has inputs setup for some of the other pins but there is no way to hook up your motors. Also a port used for motor ouputs has only 5 inputs. One is dedicated to e-stop. That leaves four. If you use three for the THC then you have one pin left for: Homes and Limits.

The THC300 is designed to run on port 2 (second parallel port). At one time we looked at doing a single port version of the THC. It had severe limitations (like the single pin left for all other inputs) It died from lack of interest.
