After reading many posts on stepper motor sizes & how to select. I am now more confused than just not knowing anything at all about the subject. I know that it pretty much boils down to weight, friction, how fast it needs to move etc.
The table will be O/A so speed can be kept relatively low.
My overall table movement will be 5' X 10' Which will make the gantry about 6' over all length. & will weigh around 80# without O/A torch, hoses, wiring, etc. Planning on using a stepper on each side of the X axis & planning on using notched belt . The Y axis will be on precision linear rail & should be next to 0 friction also notched belt. The Z or torch height will also be flat linear rail & most likely be ballscrew.
This table will be used nearly 24 hrs per week, so I don't want to be marginal on size requirements. I want to lean in the dependability & durabilaty direction.
Based on this limited amount of information, what motors would others reccomend?
