    THC 300 /Everlast plasma

We have a THC 300 that was hooked up to a Hypertherm plasma and worked fine was just to small. Now we have sold the Hypertherm and purchased a Everlast 80 that is cnc ready. The person that helped with the electronics is no longer available. the Everlast has a round 12 pin plug and the THC 300 has a rectangle 9 pin. The electronics language is different between the 2 companies and I would like someone to convert it to a simple connect pin number on the round to pin number on the rectangle. Also have been trying to get a hold of somebody at Everlast since Monday with no luck.

Won't be that simple. The THC300 uses a "sensor card" (the 9 pin card at the plasma) that has a voltage divider/filter on it along with the input pins t fire the torch and get the OK to MOVE back from the plasma. You cannot simply hook to the divided voltage on the Everlast and use that and you can't use their Raw Arc volts output pins to feed the SENSOR card inputs because their raw volts is high impedance (100K series resistors) and the SENSOR card is low impedence and will load the circuit. (high tech way of saying to won't work)

Some of the later SENSOR cards for the THC300 had an input for divided volts (50:1) so 5 volts = 355V at the torch. That will probabaly prove to be in accurate since it is an analog voltage that has to travel all the way back to the THC300 main module and ANY noise over about 5o mvolts (.050 volts) will skew your readings and settings.

The electronics "language" difference is the basic language barrier between Chinese and US technical people. The concepts are the same but the names of things are different and the way the electronics are implemented are different.

Even the 12 pin connector is not a standand connector used in the US or the EU. The only place you can get the 12 pin round plug to match their connector is from them or a source in China.

    thanks Torchhead
Could you give me more information of what I need to get to make this work . If I need to buy something extra what do I need and where can I get it also a simple diagram. I'm willing to pay a reasonable amount for knowledge to get this running. we do have a pig tail for the plug conversion

The THC300 is not my product. It is a later version of a really old analog THC I did in 2002. There have been changes and I don't know what they are. I do know some about the Everlast as we have had a few owners hook them up to our MP3000-DTHCII and The BladeRunner Dragon-Cut systems. The DTHC II is designed to use the divided volts out of the new Hypertherm and TD units using a standard 14 pin connector. Even then the interface will not be pin for pin. You should be able to use what you already have you just will have to find the Raw Arc Volts in the unit and make the connection on the old THC SENSOR card you have. The Torch fire (start) and OK to Move will work through the rear connector, They should be able to give you pin numbers for those two signals.
