    Lockformer Plasma Help/Opinion

I'm new at the CNC Plasma scene (meaning I have never operated one) but I have been looking for some time contiplating building or buying. I just came across a Lockformer Vulcan 1800 5X10 machine, mid 80's vintage I think with a 3 phase Thermal Dynamics plasma machine. It works as is but I would expect to do some updating. Price is about $5k. It has been useed to cut A/C duct work but that is not what I want to do with it. I want to be able to cut at least 1/4". It includes Lockformers software, old I'm sure and probably only relating to A/C ductwork. I want to be able to cut simple .dxf files or similar AutoCAD type drawings. My question is, to bring this machine up to todays standards what should I expect to have to put money into? Any help is greatly appreciated.

Let me also add, I don't have 3 phase power so the plasma machine would have to be replaced or could I use a phase converter? At least to get it up and running.
