Some Burntable questions - newbie here!

I have a burntable of unknown manufacture using a burny 3 controller and QuickCAM 1.0. The program really needs to be put on a different computer but is too old to do so (it's running Windows 95!!). I'd like to find another program to interface with my Burny 3 and operate the table like that. Can anyone help with this?

    Thanks in Advance, Mike

You may be able to use SheetCAM and a Post that will generate the correct code for the Burny 3 controller. The transfer method is probably serial (RS232) and the memory on the controller is probably limited so you need DNC (sometimes called a "drip feeder"). If the Burny has full RS232 implemented it should be able to stop and start the feed but you need a Your challenge will be to get from the new PC to the controller with a method both are happy with. I don't know if you can draw in QuickCAM but SheetCAM is NOT a drawing program. It takes DXF files in and generates g-code files out.

There's no need to have drawing capabilities. I run AutoCAD and can make DXF drawings to put into the program. I need the conversion to the format the burny 3 uses. We are currently limited by part number and complexity, but it's usually pretty easy to work around, lots of parts can be made by restarting the program for a second run, or sometimes using multiple torches for 1/3 the total programmed parts.
