What kind of tolerance can you hold with your home built cnc plasma?

With new consumables I can cut a 3/4" hole and have to screw a 3/4" bolt into the hole to get it to go in. I have not checked it with a micrometer but that is plenty close enough tolerance for me.

Thanks for repling. I have heard they are pretty acurate and cut clean. Better than I thought. I just seeing if I can get some numbers. I'm in the process of designing one.

Plain ol'bill did not mention that he has one of the coolest water tables ever made. It helps with close tolerance work. Internal parts are usually more accurate, while your final or external cuts are only as accurate as your kerf width. A water table helps the parts from shiffting inside the kerf profile. An edge start were you do not pierce will have more chance of moving during a cut than a pierce because a part can push on the unsupported (open) web.

no he didn't. I will have to look it up and thanks for the info. I didn't think it would deflect if you made a cut right on the edge of the stock. Kinda like a waterjet machine. Never thought about that.
