    more accurate ipm stuff...

i know people want high inch per min.. but for me im going to use cutting torch and some plasma.. lets say i cut 20 gauge sheet metal how much ipm is required for that?

i know for thicker sheet metal ill be using cutting torch and found couple sites mentioning how fast it needs to be.. for 1/4 would need about 18 ipm..

here is the image i attached below of the chart...

    Hi Dan,

I too am making a cnc plasma table, I have some pages loaded in the project log forum.

If you go to the torchmate website the actually have a page that tells you the correct feed speeds for cutting mild, stainless and aluminium.

    Cheers Apples

found the image from torchmate.com and here is the info for future reference..

apparently if i want to cut thin stuff i need to design my table to cut about 500 ipm.. bit too fast than i thought it would need...

hope my setup can handle that..

will see after i put everything in drawing and caculate the weight and everything..

Yeah 500ipm, but what you can do is.

Hypertherm have 'fine cut' consumables so that you can cut thin steel etc. All you have to do then to stop cutting at 500ipm is adjust the power output of the plasma so that you only cut at say 200ipm etc etc.
