    Proximity vs Limit

Looking at a youtube video the guy was using proximity sensors instead of limit switches on his CNC

What is the difference between the two and is one better than the other?

Depends on what they are used for. Proximity has no mechanical parts to wear out, higher cycle rate, and usually smaller. Limit switches are better for overtravel and other stuff you don't want to risk with a prox not picking up. Limit usually can handle more current and multiple voltages.

One is not better than the other, just depends on use.

Thank you, I guess I will stick with the limit switches for my new CNC
