EMCO Compact 5 CNC spindle drive help | | I have recently purchased a second hand EMCO compact 5 CNC machine.
The control shows no sign of life so I am converting it to mach 3. All the steppers and stepper drives are taken care of.
The problem I have is I was hoping to salvage the spindle control but alas no joy. I assume the spindle motor is in good order so I need a control for it.
There is also encoder feed back to take in to account, I hope the switches measuring rpm and spindle position will plug directly into a break out board relying on Mach to measure the RPM and spindle position. The question is what do I need to drive the spindle motor and are my assumptions so far correct.
Here is picture of the plate off the motor:-
Will one of these do the trick Surplus Center - DC MOTOR CONTROLLER FOR PERMANENT MAG OR SHUNT or is there a cheaper alternative ?
Thanks
