    Vinyl questions?

I have a few questions, first does anyone know of a good forum for sign makers, mainly vinyl work. I know of the new router and CNC sign website, but that's not what I have. I'm looking for a place to get advice about lettering, vinyl and such.

Here are a few questions I have, what is a good low tack vinyl, something that will easily remove from glass but not fall off on it's own. I'm not looking for static cling, just low tack or non permanent adhesive. I do sandblast etching on drinking glasses, and I use normal 3yr vinyl as a masking, but the adhesive residue is insane. I know sandblast resist has low tack, but for an air eraser it's way overkill, and at almost $15yd it's cost prohibitive compared to vinyl, which works fine for an air eraser. Also does anyone know a good place to get camo vinyl for a reasonable price? I found a guy on ebay but he charges per foot.

You could use 3M SCOTCHCAL Film Series 25.this vinyl is easily peelable and leaves no residues. its a medium grip vinyl i use for years very extensivly.
if you like to cut something more intricate you cold use Series 30.this one is thinner.cuts easier, but sticks better.I use it too but don't leave it on more than a couble of days. Prices from local dealers for a roll of 20''x2000'' are roughly EU 75+vat15%. I used to order throu their agent and costed me almost half the prices but now with bussiness going down its not worthy stocking something like 50 rolls. Besides the adhesive weakens and its a high risk in multistage blasting.
for anything else, drop me a line.

Your looking for Oracal 631 vinyl. It's low tack and easy to remove. not static cling. Oracal 651 is slightly longer lasting and can be used outdoor.. Oracal 751 is 10 year outdoor vinyl that is extremely high tack.

    removing vinyl

    Ben,
I usually fill large storage tub with hot water and set mugs, glasses, whatever in it after sandblasting. When done with air eraser and all mess cleaned up, allowing the items time to soak, pretty much all the vinyl can be rubbed off by hand and intricate pieces rinsed off in sink during final rinse. Leaves no residue. This is with the 651 vinyl which is actually quite durable. But I imagine the 631 would be cheaper, as well as easier to cut.

I think you would be pleased with the Vinyl Forum, "signs101.com. It's almost all vinyl people.
