Ok guys I am getting ready to venture into some new pieces that I will need to regularly drill/bore/mill what ever you want to call it a 1.5" centered hole into a solid 2" steel round bar 48" long. This hole will be running up into the end of the round bar about 2.5" deep. this will not be a HIGH volume need but probably 30 times a month or so. So I would like to be an efficient and true as possible. I currently have a South Bend lathe 16" so looking for some new tooling to get these projects done. The lathe has a MT #3. Brand names you guys like more than others. also going to be drilling the same holes only in 1.25 in 1 5/8" solid bar to. I was thinking end mill bits but wanted your guys advise please |
