| Yes if the milling machine is geometrically correct and rigid. IMHO, the machine must be able to traverse the entire length of the workpiece with a facemill wider than the workpiece. The facemill can be a fly cutter or a multi-toothed cutter. Dick Z

| Richard, Thanks for responding. I want to open my own machine shop one day, so im looking at the cost of equipment. It just seems like alot of money to spend on a head resurfacing machine starting out. Im thinking a good mill would be the better bang for buck purchase. I want to start a shop with the bare necessities then grow it over time. Got 2 more questions: 1. Is it possible to do cylinder honing and boring with a mill? Or would you suggest I get the actual boring machine? 2. In addition to a Mill, lathe, belt grinder, balance scales, the other measuring equipment a vertical band saw and a welding plant. What else would you suggest I get to start out? |

| The equipment you need depends on the work you will do. Personally, I would start with a small horizontal boring mill. Can do many operations. Of course, that would be a larger expenditure and shipping to Jamaica would be expensive. But then, who else in the area has one? LOL Dick Z
