Hello all, I am trying to open the chuck under program control on my Takisawa EX-110 lathe. According to the manual the code for this is M69. When I enter this code, the chuck does open, but the control just sits and waits and after about 5 seconds I get this alarm: 1022 M,S,T,B SGNL. ARE NOT COMPLETED. The explanation in the manual is this: The completion signal is not output even if the time exceeding that set by the PMC timer 2 has passed after the M.S.T.B code is executed. Check the M.S.T.B code and its action. This doesn't help me much. Could somebody help? Thanks, Lorne Martin |

| The reason you get the alarm is that the control is set up to not just hang if there is a M,S,T code does not complete, it times out and tells you essentially that the control did not get a finish signal for the operation, IOW although the chuck opened there could be a switch of some kind, pressure or otherwise that tells the control it has completed the function. Check the schematics etc for prox or pressure switch. Al. .

| If a switch was required to complete the M code, I doubt it was built without it. You may have to check physically to see if you can locate any kind of switch that looks like it might be activated by the chuck opening. You really need schematics to do any kind of maintenance. Al.

| I know of no Takisawa rep in Canada, if fitted with a Fanuc control, and you get stuck, you could contact North Americal Industrial in Mississauga, they are very good. Al.

| EX110 is a TAIWAN Takasawa. Similar, but not the same. A lot of the EX series did not have the chuck switches on the coolant catch on the back of the actuator. I have seen them with a hydraulic pressure switch though. Try turning up the chucking pressure and see if it runs. If it does you need to find the switch and adjust it. Good luck |

| ok I will give that a try sometime when I got more time. I have set aside the job where I need that code for now. Just another question, does anybody know if these machines are capable of rigid tapping? I can't find anything in the manual about it so probably not, but the guy that sold us the machine said it should be able to do it. I'm just running with floating tap holders for now and it works ok, but I understand rigid tapping is preferable if the machine can do it. |

Yes, the ex110's will rigid tap. T0101 G0X0Z.5 M29S200 G84R0Z-2.F.0765m03s200 I am a service manager for a dist. that sells the EX110's. If you can provide the serial number, I can order you the prints you need and can probably help you with the chuck opening problem. Sam |

| I tried the rigid tapping with the codes provided. The machine hangs up on this line: M29S200. I actually get the same error message that I described earlier in this thread when I was trying to actuate the chuck under program control. Any more ideas anybody? |
