Milling 17-4 series stainless with a 6in milltech f-mill .100 depth of cut 384 rpm 15 to 30 inch a min. I am chipping inserts after every 3 passes. Book says run 700rpm at 70 in a min. I am removing 6 inches of material form the part. THis is getting costly. Any advice would be apreciated. Thanks in advance. By the way yes It is a massive part getting 3d mill work done to it. Anything to make this go faster would be apreciated. Sorry 1ts 17-4 stainless in condition A for roughing. Last edited by andenbrendrew; 12-22-2009 at 12:28 AM. Reason: correction |

| SAw and read the other post about 17-4 I believe all my troubles are from the milling outside and inside radiuses burning up the insert. Other than that we can run it really well. I also noticed in the other post that you all recomend finishing at .001 - .0015 chip per flute with a .02 step over it would take a couple weeks to finish one side. |
