I have a small thin peice of metal that I have to even make thinner. I was wondering if I could just use one of my 4 flute end mills to flatten it out evenly. I would of course use the thicker of the end mills. Will this work? Or is there a better end mill that I could use for this specific job. Thankyou |

| How thin? Will it be a single pass over the top of it? What type of finish are you looking for? An endmill will work, just depends on the type of finish your looking for. Also your post says your making it thinner, but your topic says you want to make it flat.. How you hold onto the piece will determine how flat you can make it.

| An endmill will work fine. If you have large areas to machine, you might consider a fly cutter or face mill. You can google them to see what I'm talking about. You might have to be creative with your workholding as well as its tough to accurately machine thin sheets in a vice. You might need some type of magnetic chuck, vacuum chuck, or something like that. good luck Matt |
