Hi all, I am a complete novice to metal machining, I have these items that appear to have been machined, the only problem is the quality of the machining appears to be poor. The item is as follows There is a male and female part Quality on inside is V poor. Same with the female part Is this poor machining or poor polishing, I can't actually think of a method by which to polish this is that is the case, especially inside the grooves. Any ideas?? Thanks |

| poor machining with some patience you'd be able to clean it up with a set of needle files

| Looks like it was made by hand with a dull wood rasp........Not bad machining, horrible machining! It is obviously a medical clamp of some sort, made in India most likely. That type of quality is common for "medical" instruments. Kinda makes you feel all warm and cozy huh? Easiest way to clean it up would be a silicon carbide impregnated nylon brush wheel. Osborn or BRM come to mind as suppliers. |

| Hi yoda 121 They are not machined these parts are/were forged in a die, there may be some machining at the end, but there is very little machining on these medical parts I would say that the dies were worn out or just badly made

| Hi Yoda I think the part shape and the size is small to hold firmly. The slope in the groove has square corner which suggests me that its not machined. @sti2011 it can come from anywhere it depends on whom you place the order isnt it. Generally any export order is taken very much care in India as they dont want to lose a foreign order and the quality too is taken care off. This is my experience here . At the end its all about money (how much you pay) . |
