You can get a new CNC-ready (including mounts and couplings for 23-frame steppers) 2018 Taig for about $1000 USD (add another $100 for the longer-bed model); shipping it to Canada would cost about $200. Get a Gecko 540, some steppers, cables and a power supply, and you're good to go for about what you're talking about spending, and without having to do anything heroic to a Chinese mill. Sure, big monster machines are great, especially for dealing with big parts, but if you're making relatively small things, there's not much you can't do with a CNC'd Taig.

I have a CNC'd X2 for sale that was only used for about a month. It has ball screws and mounts from CNCFusion.com and 400oz-in steppers with Geckos all around. It's been sitting in my shop for about 6 months waiting for a new home... I can send you some pics if your interested.

I live in Saskatoon. Shipping might be reasonable...

Hi, thanks all for these suggestions.

I love the RF45 close, for the price, look pretty good.

At 200 pounds for the head only, should be more than enough for what I need.
