Lathe offset hole thread mill without y-axis

1st post on this forum, thought I'd put this out there and see if I'm in the right section, there are so many to choose from. Anyway, I am trying to thread mill an offset hole on the sub-spindle of a Nakmura WT100, Fanuc 31i control, live axial tool with a 12.1 c-axis but no y axis. I've been able to bore the hole with an x axis shift, G3, I- move but when I attempt the addition of a z move to do the threading I get a plane selection error. Have tried G17, 18 & 19 with the same result. Talked to the Naka distributor and didn't get any help. My boss and I talked about doing incremental, maybe 5 degrees at a time, moves with the c-axis together with appropriate z changes to make an approximation that would work. Have been noodling about a sine/cosine routine that would do a quadrant at a time. Any thoughts or parametric subprograms that you'd like to share?

Who is your Nakamura distributor? If they couldn't answer the question they should have referred you to Methods Machine Tool, the importer and master distributor for North America. They've got some good applications engineers, ask for Todd.

BTW, that WT100 is one hell of a great machine!

I spoke to Paul at Methods on Friday, no luck. I believe he ran it by others in the applications area, that's why I'm appealing to someone on this forum.
