Why not? Neodymium magnets are really cheap and you can just line them up. The most expensive part seems to be the encoder, so why not just use a toothed belt on a rotary encoder? The only tension on the belt will be exerted in getting the rotor of the encoder up to speed, so there won't be any stretch. |
