| Boots has a point, you did not mention the amount of chamfer but if your doing more then just breaking the edge or small chamfer, like1/8" then in from the edge is not the best. My preference would be as he mentioned but it's doubtful it makes any real difference, across or end. Ken |

| Do the experiment and find out; cut one chamfer starting from the OD and going in toward center and another with the tool running the opposite direction. I have found that the tool nearly always leaves a minuscule burr where it exits the cutter in either direction, however, when you handle the part this burr is less noticeable when it is on the smaller end of the chamfer.
