| If the drive you have is a stepmotor drive then it won't work with a DC-servo. You need a DC-servo drive such as the Gecko G320/G340 or Granite Devices VSD-E to name two (there are a lot more available at this power level). |

| No you can't use them together. Servo's and Steppers are two different creatures that work completely different on the inside. Servomotors get powered by something called a "servo amplifier" and Stepper Motors get powered by something called a "stepper driver." |

| Antonzedd, Is this what you have? http://www.festo.com/cms/en-gb_gb/2357.htm If it is, it has a built in servo drive. It is not a good choice for a CNC machine. Welcome to the Zone, Jeff...

| As Jeff said, if that is what you have, its not too great for DIY CNC. Most (all) DIY CNC machines run using step and direction commands. This unit takes digital commands at a higher level using industrial protocols like Devicenet, Profibus, depending on the exact model you have. These units are meant more for repetitive tasks (go to position 1, go to position 2, wait for button 1, go to position 3), rather than for receiving a constant stream of information to tell it where to go.
