Hello guys. I have question about threading molybdenium... Does anyone try to do it? We have to machine a parts for nuclear plant... And I have no idea what parameters i should try, because I have never ever try to machine this material... Oh, i forgot: External thread Machine: Lathe... |

| First off, Have fun. this very difficult to machine. here are some of the parameters I use: rough: Insert = Sandvik CNGP431 1025 sfm = 400 doc = .080 ipr = .006 leave .008 on dia. and .004 on face then run semi finish pass w/ rougher at .005ipr leaving .004 on dia and .0025 on face finish: Insert = Mitsubishi VDGX320R HTi10 sfm = 400 ipr = .0007 - .0017 OD Threading: Insert = Sandvik TLTK-2R 1015 * here is the g-code for 1/4-32 I run on an Okuma LB-15 (60 DEG THREADING) G97S600M08 N900G00X1.6Z0.1T040404 X.5 G71X0.2101Z-0.133H0.0406D0.0007B60F0.0313M22M73M32 G00G40X20.Z10. S900 M01 |
