How to anodize(?) steel?

How do I anodize(?) steel turning it into a black color?

Aluminum is anodized.
Steel is Black Oxide.

Another thing with this chemical is if you have a shop wipe or paper towel saturated with it laying around in close proximity to bare steel you will get a good dose of the original oxide finish, rust

Check out www.blackfast.com They are in England... I use to use it on the parts I was making and I friend of mine uses it for the tools he repairs. My friend has tried other kinds but likes the blackfast the best.
