Ok here is my problem I have two clutches one clutch is to small to work right and heats up very fast the other is a large clutch and I think will work perfect the problem lies in the large clutch uses a 1/6'' or so larger spline then the small clutch spline but I must use the smaller clutch spline or shaft. Bolth of them are just over 1 inch spline shafts if that helps any. So has anyone made a very small collar that would slide over the small spline shaft to make it larger. Here is some pics I am very green at CNC work I am just looking for help if it can be done and then after that I am going to have to hire someone to build. Thanks for the help Small spline shaft ![]() Large spline shaft |

| I can't tell without seeing both clutches, but might it not be easier to transplant the small spline hub into the larger clutch? The other option is to go to the parts store if it is for an automotive application and see if they make a larger clutch with the smaller spline. A real part store may help, such as a napa, or local store, not a chain store were the total IQ of all the people is less than the clutch diameter that your are working on. Also don't be afraid to offer to pay for their time in helping you out. A $20 tip will make sure that you always get treated with respect. If you just take their knowledge and time and then go buy the part someplace else, you will never get this kind of help from them.

| It's off a ATV so no shafts. The post in the small clutch may be able to be transplated but it would be more cost effective if this works to keep the small clutch intact to sell if I start doing a bunch more of these down the road. Also there is plenty of metal over 1/4 to work with so I was also thinking maybe someone would need to bore it out larger and then cut new splines and then make a collar that would adapt?? The large clutch post is the same post other than instead of a bearing holdng it in it is poured into the AL when molded Large clutch http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/...d/default.aspx Small clutch http://www.babbittsonline.com/pages/...and/parts.aspx |

| Neither link brings me to a picture, just a web site. boring it out to accept a replacement spline may be the way to go. It will have to be retained properly so it doesn't slip, possibly milled square or some such shape. Mike
