Does anyone know of a face mill with a 3/8" shank? Looking through the rutland tool catalog I don't find anything. I have a machine with an ER16 spindle so 3/8" is the largest shank I can use. I'm looking for maybe a 1" or so face mill for it.

I looked. That's a 3/8" shank but also a 3/8" cutting diameter. I'm looking for something with at least a 3/4" cutting diameter but a 3/8" shank.
You may have to look at fly cutters instead of face mills if you want to cover that area with that small of a shank.
Are you aware of any flycutters with 3/8" shanks?
Here you go.

Hello Travis
A small collet , it will have to be a small fly cutter i do not know if your machine as enough power for a large fly cutter.

Just buy a facemill, will probably have a 1/2" shank on a 1" diameter cutter using 2 carbide inserts, put it in a conventional lathe between centers (most facemills are turned between centers and will already have centering spots), turn it down to 3/8".

MC, thanks, that's the best suggestion I've heard. And too obvious.Aren't the shafts on most tooling hardened though?
Jalessi, thanks, I hadn't seen those.
I suggest taking a look at Seco Nano Mills
