Hi folks! I'm a new CNC zone member, and I have kind of a specific question. I deal with machining a material called HC250 or "High Chrome" 250, it's comprable to hard cast iron, but with approx 24% Chrome. This material is extremly abrasive on drills and taps, and to add aggravation, HC250 is always casted, and casted with frequent porosity. I have been trying to dial in consistant, low risk speeds and feeds for years, with decent sucess, but I would love to chat with anyone else who has specific knowledge of this material. Some speed/feed data that seems to work is : 21/32" HSS drill 70 rpm @ .4 IPM feed Thank you! Rich |
