I was thinking of getting a 5C collet chuck for my grizzly lathe (D1-4 camlock) and was wondering if anyone had any experience with import versions that are sold on ebay (http://cgi.ebay.com/5C-COLLET-CHUCK-...3286.m20.l1116) In particular, I'm wondering about their "out of the box" concentricity. I'm not exactly sure how one could adjust the concentricity of a backplate free collet chuck without remachining/regrinding the 5C surface. I was also looking at some of the Bison Collet Chucks and was wondering if anyone had any experience with them (http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-5C-Bison-Lat...3286.m20.l1116) Do you guys think the Bison is worth the extra $225? I've never regretted paying more money for a better/more expensive tool, but usually try to do some research to make sure I'm spending money wisely. Any comments/ideas would be appreciated. -Matt |

You have already answered your question. I have a Bison scroll chuck mounted on one of my lathes and also have a tailstock chuck and never had any problems with them. Aleast with the Bison, you know what you are getting. |

| I have a great deal of Bison product. There is a reason why I keep buying it. In case reading between the lines isn't your specialty, It is good product at good price. BTW it is import as well (Poland) and been around as long as I have been machining (20+ years)
