Hello all.I am wondering if anyone can help me with information on how to find companies that are putting work out for bid.My father owns and operates a machine shop in L.I. N.Y. I have always been interested in the process of getting work contracts to bid on and recently my father has given me the opportunity to find him work and to recieve a fee if he bids on and receives said work.I have been around machining all my life (grandfather/father were machinists who owned there own shops).I am very new to this game and would love any ideas or feedback from some of you pros that would help steer me in the right direction.Thank you very much! |

| Hi, and welcome There is no magic potion when it comes to finding work for a machine shop. What it takes is lots of phone calls, good notes, and follow up calls. Check the local yellow pages for starters. Look for any buisness that might have a need for your services. If you do not know what a buisness does, call them up and ask. Tell them who you are and what you do. Always ask for the purchasing agent or the Sales Rep. If they don't have a need for your sevices, ask them if they know anybody that does. Write down names, phone numbers, dates and a brief notes About the call. If you have a lead always call back after days and/or weeks. Good Luck and keep dialing. Roundieland |
