What are you getting for aluminum scrap these days?

Just curious.

I have a boatload of aluminum I am gonna get picked up, MOST of it is solids. Some of it is chips, and I've seperated it out.

I was offered $0.20 for the solids. 2nd guy offered $0.30.

A machinist next door said he heard a friend say he gets $0.30 for chips and double that for solids.

Not sure if I ought to be calling around - what is a fair price for aluminum solids these days?

Do what diycnc is doing with your chips. Solids come in handy for one of jobs and fixtures.

Price is WAY down, got $.32/pound last week.
$50/ton for steel.
A year ago steel was 250/ton and the aluminum was around $4/pound

I have not cashed in my aluminum scrap in a long time but when I did I went to this place around Woonsocket RI. I don't remember the details but I always felt ripped off afterwards.
