Help with Acu-Rite software update procedure?

Has anyone here ever gone through the software update procedure for products such as the VRO 300M?


I went to Acu-Rite's site and got the latest firmware for the VRO 300M and
want to upload it to my DRO, which is a VRO 300T.

I'm upgrading the T model (for a lathe) to an M model, for a mill. I need two things to make this happen: New firmware (Downloaded to the PC already) and a new keypad, which I'll get after the firmware is in the DRO.


There are no instructions with the firmware for how to get it into the DRO. I know that it takes a null modem RS232 cable but I have no other specific information.


If you can help, please feel free to do so.

Update: Got it done. After unzipping, there is an install.exe file which you simply run AFTER you've turned on the VRO 300 while holding down the SETUP button. This puts it into the mode that allows the new firmware to be loaded.

I got the new keypad from Acu-Rite and now the conversion is complete. What was a VRO 300T (lathe model) is now a VRO 300M (mill) programmable DRO.
